Divinely Energized JOTTINGS

NIGHT NIGHT

The blinds were closed and curtains drawn as the sound machine began sending its calming rainshower into his room. Naptime for grandson Lincoln had moved a bit later in the day, and sometimes winding down from his toddler activities took a while. I found the transition from storytime rocker to his crib was gentler with a few moments of hushed singing.

I don’t really know if it’s an existing tune, but this is what flowed out one day a few months ago and it has become OUR song:

I love you, Lincoln. I love you.

I love you, Lincoln. Yes I do.

I love you, Lincoln. I love you so much!

I love you Lincoln. I love you!

Simple, but heartfelt.

After I finished swaying him in my arms and watched him maneuver himself into his comfy position for sleep, we’d exchange “Night, night’s” and I’d walk to the door.

One day last week his little voice was whisper-humming the tune for the first time. That was sweet enough, but wait there’s more!

As I reached the door, I heard him breaking out into song with “Lub u gramma. Luuub u.” before returning to gentle humming.

That was a moment that has etched a memory in my heart for a lifetime!

It has already been shared with numerous family members and friends. It’s too juicy good and energizing to keep to myself.

God’s love-whispers broke through in the midst of my ordinary day. I thought I was just putting my grandson down for his nap and then I’d go finish some laundry. But it seems to me that He had some loving words for me that He chose to deliver through Lincoln’s sleepytime voice.

Now there’s no way I will ever get that out of my mind, and I’m so thankful!
